Blair Shields – Satin Stitch Embroidery

SHARE:

Blair Shields walks you through the satin stitch to make a map of Boston neighborhoods. You’ll need fabric, an embroidery hoop, a sewing needle, a pencil, a pair of scissors, and at least 6 different colors of thread. This is a simple repetitive stitch that’s great for starting embroidery.

Blair is a fiber artist from Baltimore, now based in Boston. She does all types of fiber from knitting, to hats, to embroidery. She loves incorporating maps and other types of data visualization into her designs. Her work is beautiful, graphic, and very polished.
